I think many of us are disgusted by the cost of youth sports. Whether it’s flights, hotels, weekend entry fees, parking, or more, we’re all just tired of it. But many of us feel like we have to do it in order for our kid to get recruited, and in some ways, it’s true. However, here are a few free ways you can build recruitment and save money.

  1. Ask your high school coach to invite college coaches to Fall open gyms/workouts

  2. Send emails (or have a coach send emails) to college coaches of schools you’re interested in with your recent highlight film and information about you

  3. Create an Instagram and/or Twitter/X account for college coaches to follow where you upload highlights/stats

  4. Ask your high school coach to play in a few exposure events during the regular season

  5. Create a FieldLevel account where you can upload your highlights and college coaches can learn more about you
